17th week




FERNANDO HUMANES


This week we continue with the last challenge presented to us.
In this challenge we continue designing pieces and making the corresponding plans.
We are also tracking the pieces of the die that each group has touched.
We also had to perform an exam with Gaizka, this exam was a calculation, we had to make the calculations of a piece of drawing in a sheet, we had to calculate the initial diameter of the sheet to stuff, the number of drawing we have to do for obtaining the final piece and the drawing force in each step.
With Julen we are practicing in cathia the surface module, every day we are with Julen, we make a piece in surface module to practice.

This week we continue with the  project
In this challenge we continue designing parts and making drawings for measuring.
We are also following the parts that they are mecanizing in the other class.
We also had to made difficult  exam with Gaizka, this exam about calculating deforming parts.
We had to calculate the initial diameter of the parts that had to be deformed. radius, length and may other things to make the drawing in catia the best way.
We are making surfaces in catia with Julen and it is not easy to learn it alone.

16th week

This week we started with the third challenge.
This challenge is based on reverse engineering, the challenge is to make a plastic injection mold.
In the challenge they give us the built mold, what we have to do are the drawings of the assembly and of each piece of the plastic injection mold.
To perform this challenge, we can perform together with the other groups, a group component can measure the pieces of the set and pass them to the other groups and viseversa.
The piece that makes this mold is a plastic piece for holding our die at rest.
The piece we make may be the same or different, that depends on the choice of the group.
To perform this challenge we have the month of February, the importance of this challenge is to make the plans correctly or as completely as possible, we have to enter the geometric and dimensional tolerances.
In this challenge the assembly is not mandatory, but if it is done it will have a plus.
We have also conducted a foundry test with Nagore.
We are already in the last weeks of the course and the nerves emerge, we are already looking forward to finishing with the best possible result, since the effort and sacrifice has been considerable.

In the end we have extended the delivery date of the challenge before Wednesday of this new week.

By giving us more time we had time to make improvements to the project. I have decided to take advantage of these three extra days to do well the assembly of my individual base with the die of the group and with the press.

We made improvements and added more material to the final report before going to print it and deliver it on Wednesday.

On Thursday of this week we have also had to deliver the recovery of the die which has been complicated because we have had to do a 3 month job in one month and matching it with the challenge we were currently doing.

The last two days of this week we have been measuring a set of pieces that form an injection mold and designing it in catia to be able to draw the plans.

Being a father



Being a father is really difficult job. My baby was born on the 24th of January.
It was a really tough day. No sleeping, dizzy and any other emoption I havent had before.
The first two days I thought it was going to be easy. She only ate and slept all day.
When we got home everything changed. She crys a lot and at night I cant hardenly even sleep. I usually sleep three or four hours a day. I don feel good. I feel sick.
Im dizzy all day and the sensation that I have is like if I had a fever. In the mornings I try to come to class because I dont want to miss anything, and in the afternoon I have to go to the company to precced with the dual.When I get home, I have many work to do. Things that my girlfriend cant do.
I also have my girlfriends mother at home all day. Shes not a bad lady but I would like stay  alone a while. When I kind of calmed down. I dont want to do anything. I just want to sleep when I have a momento. But, When I try to sleep everything goes crazy again.
I dont know what the hell Im in but its very difficult for me to stay with everything.My mind does work right and I cant concentrate. I just need a long period vacation. Thats how my life Works day by day.

It sucks……….

Teachers give us 3 days more to deliver the proyect beacuse we cant finish at time, and once all the different groups delivered theyr works, teacher show us the new proyect, the last one, and it is a plastic injection mold, where we have te object phisical and we have to take the measures and make the drawins of all the pieces, and apart of that the part who make the form of the  piece we are going to mold have to be from our own design and the piece is going to fit in the die and the work that is going to make is to make the die rest without beeing in contact te parts of the die.

15th week

This week has been a tough week, we have finished the design of our trtoquel mold for the evacuation of scrap metal.
To leave our mold as correct as possible, I have made many changes in the design of the mold, either to make the scrap evacuation ramps as to the ammarre of the mold to our die and press.
We are making the final report that we have to present to our teachers, each component of the group has divided the work to make the final report.
On Wednesday we visited a foundry in Durango.
The visit was very entertaining since the work they did was very handmade.
It must be said that it was interesting for our learning, we saw how they made the sand molds by hand and the males too.

This is the last week of the second challenge. We had to share our work to make the end of challenge report. In this document we have had to put all the information on the base, the foundry and all the resources used.
We had to pass the files to solid-works to calculate forces. In addition to this the expert made us some simulations of filling, cooling and possible failures that the base was going to have. In these simulations we saw that it was not very viable and that there were going to be different imperfections inside the base. To avoid that we have decided to change the flasks and put a large mass of material with a special material around it so that it cools more slowly and there arise those failure that I mentioned since that does not work and then it is cut.

this week I did not come to school before I had a new born baby. A girl!!
It is very tough because everything is new and you dont know what to do.
We passed the hole week in the hospital because my girlfriend was hurt.
we didnt hardenly sleep all the nights. very tough!!

This week has been very stressfull, because it was the las week to finish the proyec, and we work very hard to make posible all the changes we have to make were done at time and good doneit.

Apart of that we aslso have to make the report of the proyect where we have to put all the information about our proyect.

Again with the help of the expret, he make for us a filling simulation, how the liquid iron is going to fill the mold and how it is going to solidify, and see posible mistakes and solve them and finally deliver our work finished

This week i didint come to class. I had to do many papaers for inscribing my child in the city hall and the social security. I did everything posible to help at home and take care of my baby. My girlfriend is sewed up and she cat do much things. She cant almost walk

14th week

This week we continue with the design of the scrap evacuation mold. We have to assemble this mold in our die and position it in the press. First I made a mold, and when I received the clarla from an expert in foundry mold design, I realized that I had to improve the first design.

To improve this first design, we made some important changes.
First we perform calculations to size the flasks and the mold filling channels.
The mazarotas are useful that are placed to avoid the formation of rechupes in the pieces.
The filling channels are dimensioned and I put a larger diameter, so we will perform a uniform filling and prevent the liquid from solidifying as uniformly as possible.
I have also placed an iron plate, this makes cooler and alluda to solidify evenly.
the mazarotas are placed to their correct measure, in this way we avoid that the neck of the mazarota solidifies before the mazarota.

This week we have continued working with the base made from a foundry. After having the design finished with all the well located material extraction ramps we have begun to position the filling tubes and the mazarotas in the base. This is so that at the time of filling it is the last thing to cool down and so be it in the flasks where the defects of the piece appear.
To place the flasks and the filling part we had at our disposal some ppt-s which had information about it. In addition, an expert has also come to class that we have been able to ask.

This week we continue with the design of the mold. We have to finish the final design, making the calculation of all things, like "mazarotas" to avoid "rechupes", where place the flask and the filling part and nerves.

Our first design was not okay, but with the help of an expert in foundry we solve all our problems we can have and make a redesign to improve the finall result and have a functional and viable final result.

We made some important changes this week.
We made calculations of the flasks and the mold filling channels.
The mazarotas that are  to avoid the formation of Little holes in the pieces.
The filling channels are dimensioned, so we will perform a uniform filling and prevent the liquid from solidifying as uniformly as possible.

13th week

This week we have begun to design each group member his sketch for the design of the mold.
Nagore has given us some rules that the mold has to meet when designing and then melt it in foundry. The mold we designed is in accordance with the die we designed in the previous challenge, since it has to respect the measures of the die so that the die rests on the mold.
We have also received a talk from an expert in casting parts and molds, this person has given us some guidelines to follow and some good advice, that if we fulfill them the design will come out perfect.
On Friday we made a visit to an Elorrio smelter, it is called Betsaide.
The visit was very interesting and very contributing to the design of our mold.
In the final design, which will be the group design, we have to position the flasks, the filling system and the mold feeding system.
The mission of the mazarotas is to avoid the rechupes of the pieces and the complete and uniform filling.
After designing the mold we have to design it with a 5% oversize, since when the liquid cools it contracts.

This is the second week of the new challenge. In these five days we have continued designing the base. At the end of the initial design we have inserted it and made an assembly with our die.

After making the assembly we have chosen one of them through a matrix to make some small changes and improve it. After changing the method of leaving the remaining material, we design some flasks and the entrance for the liquid to be able to simulate the filling.


On Thursday of this week we only had two hours to continue with the project because later we went to Elorrio to pay a visit to the Betsaide company in which they showed us how a foundry worked.

This is the second week of the new challenge.This week we continue with the design of the base. We make the assembly of the base to the press and to the die, and take first look of how it fit one each other. 

After each meamber of the group have design his own base, through a design matrix with some parameters we choose one of the 5 different degigns.

On Thursday we went to Elorrio to visit Betsaide company where they show us how a foundry works

This week we had to design a sketch for the design of the mold.
 The mold we designed, is in has to go with the die that we made on the prject before, it goes below the dies that we made.
A man came this week to give us a lesson about doundition a few tips for the designing. He helped us a lot with the explanaitions that he gave us.With all the designs that we made, we had to pick one out of evey group and final design, and design the flasks, the filling system and the mold feeding system.
After designing the mold we have to design it with a 5% oversize, since when the liquid cools it contracts that way when it cools, it increases.

12th week

This week has been a very short week, it has only had three days.
The first day of class and after the return of Christmas holidays, we were presented with the second retro.
This second challenge is to design a mold for the evacuation of scrap metal for the tank that we already designed in the previous challenge.
They have given us some guidelines to follow for the design of the mold.
They have also given us guidelines to design the plans in catia, we have to follow some rules of dimension and representation of the pieces in the plane.
At the same time we have to track and measure the three-dimensional machine of the pieces of the die that are being manufactured by the partners of the second course of mechanical manufacturing.

This is the first week after the Christmas holidays and we only had class 3 days. These days we have been presented with the new challenge in which we have designed a base for our die with the function of dislodging the excess plate after the cuts made by the die.
The first day he indicated the reply and the other two days gave us some basic notions about financing. After this we begin each member of the group to make an individual sketch in Catia.

This week has been very short, we star with the presentation of the new proyect, it is to design a mold for the evacuation of junk for the die that wehave already designed in the first challenge.
Teacher have give us some models to follow where we can take as reference for our own design. That was the beginning of the proyect our own design of the mold for the die and it have to fit.
At the same time we have to take control of the pieces that guys in mecanizado are manufacturing.

We have to design a mold for the evacuation of scrap metal for the dies tha we made before.
We have to design it on catia 3d. We also have to design it with a few rules that they gave us.
At the same time we have to measure the  parts of the die that are being manufactured by the partners of the second course of mechanical manufacturing.

11th week

This week we have finished the challenge we have made with the Salesian center of Deusto. I believe that I have fulfilled the challenge, with the required parameters and within the marked time. The challenge has been very interesting and very different from other challenges we have made, since we have had to make the inmate through videoconferences and sharing files with other centers. Also say that it has been a bit chaotic since many times we did not agree to perform any operation, and having to understand each other by phone or videoconference was somewhat different and unusual. We have also had to make the plans of the set we have designed, we also had some problem when positioning the dimensions and geometric and dimensional tolerances. On Friday we made the presentation of the challenge, we made it in class through videoconference, the truth is that to be the first time we made that type of presentation it went very well.

This week we have finished the challenge with the students of the Salesian school of deusto located in Bilbao. This is the last week before catching the Christmas holidays so we had to deliver all the documents and make the respective presentations.

The challenge has been good. It has been a new experience to coordinate and work with people we did not know and get a project forward. We have learned a lot from each other and I think we get a good experience for the future. The only objection I can put to the challenge is that we have had very little time to create the report.

This week we have finished the proyect with the salesianos temates, so it was a difficult and stressfull we had to get everithing finish and ready to deliver. so we had a lot of videoconferences to secure all the work is done. Apart of beeing quite hard and intense proyect because we had to finish all the proyect in 2 weeks it was a very beautifull experience, be able to work with 2 completly strangers and apart of that get a very nice work with comunication one each other.

This week we have finished the project we have made with the Salesiano school (Deusto).
It has been very interesting and very different from other projects.
Everything went fine. We understanded eacheother just like if we ever worked before.
On Friday we made the presentation of the project. We made it in class through a videoconference. We didnt have much problems and everything went well.
